AVAILABLE INSERVICES:

3-8 Expository Cafe: (October 7, 2020)

In this first course of our three day expository/informative writing training series, teachers will dive into expository foundations. Participants will experience introductions, brainstorming, organizing of thoughts/ideas, developing thoughts/ideas, and HAT conclusions.

 

3-8 Expository PLUS:  (October 8, 2020)

In the second course of our three day expository training series, participants will experience how to take the foundation of expository café and learn how to take their informative writing to the next level. OCTO Surgery will become OCTO MORE, How and Why CAFE will become CAFE PLUS, and much more!!

 

3-8 Editing:  (October 21, 2020)

Tackle the objective portion of assessment head on! You will experience sentence structure and grammar rules like never before. Students will know what it means to see a sentence and become a sentence as they dive into the parts of speech and how they are connected.

 

3-8 Revising:  (October 22, 2020)

In true writing Academy, creative, tactile – kinesthetic fashion, revising will be taught by being a R.O.C.K. star! Teachers will learn to teach students to recognize connections, offs, repeats, and knowledge needed in assessment test selections. Furthermore, students will be able to use these skills in application to their own written compositions.

 

3-8 Reading Passage Analysis:  (November 4, 2020)

The first course of our Tap and Think Reading features an incredible, brain-based method for comprehension and recalling reading selections. Participants were learned about close reading as they dive into concrete aspects of comprehension including authors purpose, authors perspective, tech structure, genre, point of view, textual evidence, elements of literature, and literary devices.

 

3-8 Reading Question Analysis:  (November 5, 2020)

The second course of Tap and Think Reading will begin with in-depth vocabulary analysis. Teachers will experience new ways to develop quality dictionary skills and use context clues to determine the meaning of a word. Additionally, they will walk through poetry, drama, question, and answer choice terminology. Students will have a firm understanding of WHY an answer choice is correct and exactly WHY an answer choice is incorrect.
